Gas consumption is expected to fall in the EU this year by 3% (10 bcm) from 350 bcm in 2022. This should be achieved exclusively through lower consumption in electricity generation (down by 20% year on year). By contrast, gas consumption in industry is expected to grow by 13% due to lower prices.

Oil prices are in a downward spiral, with a drop of over 4% following a delay in the OPEC+ meeting. This decline is predicted to cause further decreases in gas prices. In the United States, the average price of a gallon of regular gas currently stands at $3.28, which is nearly 8% lower than last month and 10% lower than the same time last year.
